The TowerCares Foundation is excited to host the 2024 Tower Classic Golf Tournament! We are back at the beautiful Renditions Golf Course in Davidsonville, Maryland, and are looking forward to a fun day of golf on a scenic 18-hole course. Enjoy good food and camaraderie, raffles, prizes, contests and more—all for a great cause: to benefit the TowerCares Foundation and the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center.
We do it for the children. Children like Sadie.
When Sadie was four years old, her parents noticed that she was excessively thirsty and using the bathroom more frequently. They scheduled a visit to her pediatrician, where tests showed dangerously high blood sugar levels. Her doctor told her parents to take her to the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore, Md. immediately.
There, Sadie was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, an autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks the pancreas cells that produce insulin. After leaving JHCC, Sadie required finger sticks several times a day to check her blood sugar level, and an insulin needle before every meal. “Everything was different once she was diagnosed,” says mom Megan. “It was all day every day, and it was such a production at first.”
Sadie’s diabetes nurse called every afternoon to check on her blood sugars, and she began to regularly see a pediatric endocrinologist at JHCC. “She was so little,” Megan recalls. “And it was awful giving her needles constantly, but we never felt alone in any of it.”
Now seven years old, Sadie, along with her family and JHCC care team, successfully manages her diabetes. A continuous glucose monitoring system measures her blood sugar and an insulin pump delivers insulin. She has learned how to do the finger sticks herself, and she understands the signals her body sends her when she needs to boost her blood sugar.
Through her own experiences, Sadie has helped educate her classmates and others about type 1 diabetes.
We need your support
Tournament sponsors are a critical part of our fundraising efforts to help critically ill children receiving care at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. This year, we have added more sponsorship levels and packages, designed to fit every budget. Sponsorships are a great way to gain recognition for your company, while at the same time helping children in need.
In addition to sponsorships, we also welcome donations of gift cards and other items for the tournament raffles, contests, and door prizes. Sponsors and donors will be recognized at the event, in the players’ program, at the awards luncheon, and on the TowerCares Foundation website.
